Huawei’s MWC announcements include an Android e-ink tablet

With Mobile World Congress comes all kinds of new announcements from the telecommunications titans, and Huawei has offered a look at seven – yea, seven – new and upcoming products for 2022.

The announcements include a refresh of the company’s flagship laptop, Huawei’s first all-in-one PC, a brand new 2-in-1 laptop, an interesting-looking e-ink tablet, an all new HarmonyOS tablet, a printer, and a portable speaker.

Huawei’s new software allows users to connect multiple devices, creating what Huawei refers to as a single “Super Device” – made up of a PC and a phone, smart screen, or tablet. This is accompanied by Huawei’s Mobile App Engine that brings yet another proprietary storefront to the PC interface.

Huawei’s flagship laptop receives a refresh with a new aesthetic design, a brand new high-quality touch display with an excellent screen-to-body ratio, and light weight construction.

The suspiciously familiar wedge-shaped design allows for a minimalist aesthetic with reduced weight and a more comfortable typing experience.

Huawei promises a revolutionary spatial sound experience powered by six speakers built into the laptop.

The all-new MateBook E is Huawei’s first OLED laptop and its first 2-in-1 form factor, leaning more onto the tablet side than the laptop side of 2-in-1 devices.

Weighing just 709 grams, the MateBook E is highly portable and its high screen brightness makes it perfect for working even in bright daylight.

Combined with Huawei’s M-Pencil, the MateBook E would be a great choice for any student thanks to its versatility, portability, and functionality.

The MateStation X is Huawei’s first all-in-one desktop machine – a 28-inch 4K device with touch capability and a highly adjustable stand.

Huawei’s announcement is light on actual details, but the company promises “powerful performance” from this machine.

Probably the most exciting announcement from Huawei’s MWC lineup, the MatePad Paper is a 10.3-inch e-ink tablet powered by HarmonyOS 2.

Designed for reading and writing, the MatePad Paper brings a natural experience with the included M-Pencil that allows for easy notetaking.

With the full power of Android on this tablet (sans Google apps, of course), it might be the one to finally dethrone the Kindle Paperwhite.

The PixLab X1 shows that no device is truly safe from HarmonyOS, as Huawei has managed to cram the operating system into a printer.

This multifunction laser printer offers Tap to Print and Remote Printing making it easy to print documents from Huawei’s mobile devices.

The innovative toner drawer design means you don’t replace the entire drum at once, allowing for extra yield per drum and lower ongoing costs.

Huawei’s first portable speaker promises excellent sound quality and long battery life – the two things a portable speaker needs.

With four speaker units, the Sound Joy can deliver powerful sound for up to 26 hours on a single charge of the 8800mAh battery.

An IP67 dust and water resistance rating is always welcome on portable speakers, too, since they can often be prone to splashes.
