Samsung Galaxy A23: Budget phone set to arrive with a powerful 5G chipset and striking design

Samsung is preparing to release multiple devices in its best-selling Galaxy A series over the next few months. The Galaxy A53 leaked comprehensively a while ago, and the latest leak now throws light on what will be one of the most affordable offerings in the lineup, the Galaxy A23.

The Galaxy A23 is tipped to debut with a 6.6-inch FHD+ LCD like its predecessor, the Galaxy A22 5G. The A23 is also expected to feature the same chipset on the A22 5G, the MediaTek Dimensity 700. The 7 nm Dimensity 700 is a powerful SoC in that segment, and compares favorably with Qualcomm's rival offerings. The A23 is expected to be available in options of 4/64 GB and 6/128 GB.

According to the source, the Galaxy A23 will ditch the A22's 48 MP main camera for a 50 MP shooter, likely the JN1. That's the same sensor on the similarly positioned Xiaomi Redmi 10. That camera is said to be aided by an 8 MP ultra-wide-angle sensor, a 2 MP depth sensor, and a 2 MP macro shooter. Other specs include a 5000 mAh battery and 15 W charging. As it stands, the A23 will retain the 3.5 mm jack as well.

Design-wise, the Galaxy A23 looks set to ditch its predecessor's square camera module in favor of a triple-stacked module akin to the Galaxy S21 FE's. The Galaxy A53 will also look similar, so it appears Samsung is unifying its design language this year.
