The Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra replaces the Galaxy S21 Ultra and Galaxy Note 20 Ultra with new camera treats and a built-in S Pen

The successor to both the Galaxy S21 Ultra and Galaxy Note 20 Ultra is here, with Samsung having decided against releasing a Galaxy Note 21 Ultra last year. In their place is the Galaxy S22 Ultra, a 77 x 163.3 x 8.9 mm flagship that weighs 228 g. While the Galaxy S22 Ultra weighs 1 g more than the Galaxy S21 Ultra, the former's weight includes its built-in S Pen. Incidentally, the Galaxy S22 Ultra should receive software updates until Android 16.

The Galaxy S22 Ultra is the only member of the Galaxy S22 series with a QHD+ display, although it shares its 1,750-nit peak brightness with the Galaxy S22+. Similarly, the 6.8-inch panel operates at up to 120 Hz, matching the Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22+. By contrast, the Galaxy S22 Ultra's display can refresh at 1 Hz, compared to the 10 Hz that the displays in the Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22+ manage.

Moreover, the Galaxy S22 Ultra is available with the Exynos 2200 in Europe and the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 in most markets. A 5,000 mAh battery is on board too, as is 45 W wired and 15 W wireless charging. Samsung claims to have equipped the Galaxy S22 Ultra with a 23% larger sensor than the Galaxy S21 Ultra as well, albeit one that maxes out at 108 MP. The Galaxy S22 Ultra features four rear-facing cameras; it shares only its 12 MP ultra-wide with the Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22+.
